Beautiful.ai

Presentation software with smart design rules that automatically make your slides look good. Less AI content generation than Gamma, more design guardrails.

The Verdict

Niche

Beautiful.ai is the right tool for teams where presentation quality matters and you need design consistency across multiple people. The smart design rules genuinely prevent bad slides. But the lack of a free tier, steep team pricing, and limited AI content generation make it a harder sell than Gamma for most use cases. Best for sales teams and consultancies.

Claims vs. Findings

What Beautiful.ai says vs. what we found after real use.

1

They claim

Smart templates with built-in design rules — impossible to make ugly slides

We found

The design engine is genuinely impressive — slides auto-adjust spacing, alignment, and hierarchy as you add content. It's very difficult to make a bad-looking slide, which is the whole point.

2

They claim

AI assistant generates slide content and suggests layouts

We found

AI content generation is basic compared to Gamma — it suggests bullet points and headlines, not full narratives. You're doing more of the thinking, which means better content but slower creation.

3

They claim

Team libraries for brand-consistent presentations across your organisation

We found

Team libraries work well for enterprise use — upload your brand assets, lock templates, and every deck looks consistent. This is the killer feature for larger teams.

4

They claim

Real-time collaboration with commenting and version history

We found

Collaboration is smooth — similar to Google Slides but with better design constraints. Comments and version history work as expected.

5

They claim

Export to PowerPoint, PDF, or present directly from the web

We found

PowerPoint export is decent but some design elements don't translate perfectly. Animations and smart layouts lose fidelity in the conversion.

The Real Test

Task

We rebuilt an existing 15-slide company pitch deck in Beautiful.ai, starting from our text content and brand colours.

Result

The design quality was noticeably higher than our original PowerPoint — better spacing, cleaner typography, more professional chart formatting. The design rules prevented us from making the crowded text-heavy slides that plague most pitch decks. Took about 90 minutes vs Gamma's 45, but the output needed less manual polish. The constraint of working within their layouts was occasionally frustrating when we wanted custom arrangements.

If You Only Use One Feature

Smart design rules. Add content to a slide and Beautiful.ai automatically adjusts layout, spacing, and typography to maintain professional design standards. You literally cannot make an ugly slide. For non-designers, this single constraint is transformative.

Pricing Reality

No free tier — 14-day trial only. Pro at $12/month gives unlimited presentations and basic features. Team at $40/user/month adds brand controls, team libraries, and analytics. Enterprise is custom pricing. The per-seat Team pricing makes this expensive fast — a team of 5 pays $200/month. Worth it for companies where presentation quality directly affects revenue (sales teams, consultancies).

Who Is This For?

Good fit

  • Sales teams and consultancies that present to clients weekly

  • Enterprise teams that need brand-consistent decks across the organisation

  • Anyone who wants professional-looking slides without design skills

  • Managers who need to enforce visual standards across their team's output

Not the best fit

  • Solo users who just need a quick deck (Gamma is faster and has a free tier)

  • Designers who need full layout control (the design rules are a constraint, not just a guide)

  • Budget-conscious teams — no free tier and Team pricing is steep

  • Anyone who primarily needs AI to generate the content, not just the design

Best Alternative

Gamma

Faster from zero to deck, better AI content generation, generous free tier. Gamma trades design precision for speed — Beautiful.ai trades speed for design quality. Choose based on which matters more.
